Ginger Lemon Turmeric Tea
Lately, I’ve been trying to find new ways to drink water without just drinking water. Does that make sense? I love drinking water but sometimes I just want a little something extra, like mint and orange in my water, or cucumber.
Here is a tea I have been making lately that I love. I make two at a time, one to drink immediately and one I save in a mason jar to have the next day.
Ginger Lemon Tea
Ingredients:
- 1 large lemon - washed
- 1 2-inch piece of fresh ginger (I keep a ton frozen in my freezer and take it out as needed)
- 1 dash turmeric (optional)
- 1 pinch of black pepper
- 1 pinch of cayenne (optional)
- 2 cups of boiling water
Instructions:
- Boil water
- Slice lemon in half and juice each half into a mug )each mug gets half a lemon) Add the rest of the lemon into the mug
- Add sliced ginger, turmeric, cayenne, & black pepper
- Top with boiling water.
Let it sit and infuse for a few minutes (or if you are like me and forget about it, a few hours). I put the other one into the fridge once it has cooled off. You can drink it the next day either reheated or cold. I drink it with a stainless steel straw to minimize the amount of acid on the enamel of my teeth.
Why Turmeric? Turmeric has been known for it’s anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and lessen free radical damage. Adding black pepper increases the bioavailability of the Turmeric, meaning they complement each other and your body can use the turmeric more when it is mixed with Black pepper.
Let me know if you try it!
